A tennis facility impressive enough to host the 2018 and 2019 Sarasota Open, the Laurel Oak Tennis Center boasts 12 Har-Tru courts (ten of which are lighted for evening play), plus programs for adults and kids, clinics and instruction from world-class pros.

Adult Tennis Programs

There is always a game available for your level of play; from entry level to USTA 4.5 ratings.

  • Bi-weekly Friday night mixers followed by dinner at the Club
  • Weekly clinics for men and women
  • League play for the more competitive players
  • Private and group lessons are available from our USPTA Professionals
  • Monthly Pro Exhibitions are popular on Friday nights from November to May – all Laurel Oak Members are invited to spectate.

Junior Tennis Programs

With over 250 children under 21 years of age as part of the Membership at Laurel Oak Country Club, we offer programs designed especially for the kids.

  • High quality tennis instruction
  • USTA Junior Tournament Training for ages 5-17
  • The Junior Summer Sports Camp ages 8-17
  • Future Stars of Tennis/Swim Camp ages 5-7

Cardio Tennis

This will get you moving around!! The Cardio Tennis Fitness Program has Members participate in drills and games that elevate heart rates and hones coordination. This is a conditioning program on the tennis court with a racket, running, jumping, playing and no serving is required.

  • Available to all Laurel Oak Members
  • No tennis skills required
  • Monday / Wednesday / Friday 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Meet The Tennis Team


  • TY Braswell

    TY Braswell


    Ty has been the director of tennis at Laurel Oak Country Club since June of 2005. Ty attended FSU on a full tennis scholarship and played #1 singles and doubles for the Seminoles. As a junior player, Ty was ranked as high as #1 in Florida and #5 in the country in the Boys 18s division. Before coming to Laurel Oak, Ty was the Asst. Men’s Tennis Coach at FSU. During his time there, he was named the 2003 Regional ITA Asst. Coach of the Year and coached three-time ACC Player of the Year, Mat Cloer. Ty and Mike Wilson launched the Start to Finish Tennis Program at Laurel Oak in April of this year. Ty and his wife Anna have 4 children, Micah, Jonah, Jeremiah. And Rebekah.

  • Tony Acosta

    Tony Acosta


    Tony joined the Laurel Oak family as the Head Tennis Pro in September of 2007. With 21 years of teaching experience, he is best known as a Junior Development Specialist. Although he originally went to college to play baseball, Tony has been a four-time Nationally ranked tennis player with a serve that has been known to reach 130 mph, ranked #15 nationally in singles in 1999 and #1 in doubles in the Men's 35 Division, USPTA Grand Prix Circuit. Tony is also a U.S. Navy and Gulf War veteran. During his 21 years of teaching, Tony has been involved in many different aspects of the tennis business, from Country Clubs & resorts, to city and county run facilities, and has taken part in growing the game everywhere he has been. Tony is USPTA Certified.

  • Steve Martin

    Steve Martin


    Steve has been teaching tennis at Laurel Oak since 2001. Prior to Laurel Oak, Steve spent five years working with Peter Burwash International, the leading tennis management company in the world. Steve has had the privilege of teaching tennis in such countries as Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. In addition to tennis, Steve is a certified Boxing Trainer and is also a certified Speed and Agility trainer. Steve is married and he and his wife Heather have a son named Eli.
